Mountain of
Fire and Miracle Football Club (MFM FC) midfielder, Onuwa Chukwuka has
described this weekend's Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 38 clash with FC IfeanyiUbah as a career
defining match for players of the Lagos based team.
MFM FC hosts
the Anambra Warriors at the Agege stadium in a match the outcome will impact
both teams either way. MFM FC must win and hope that results in Jos and Umuahia
goes negative for rival relegation threatened sides, Heartland of Owerri and
Abia Warriors. On the other hand FC IfeanyiUbah needs the result to play on the
continent. .
A mid season
slump affected the Olukoya Boys as dropped points at home and a poor away
record combined to see MFM FC struggle through successive match days and Onuwa
in a chat with npfl.ng believes that their season will be defined by the result
of the game against FC IfeanyiUbah.
"This
is the last match of the season for all of us and it is a must win. Our lives
and career depend on this game, we cannot afford to lose this match because we
do not want to disappoint our fans, families and management."
"We
started the season brightly but at some point, our inexperience in the premier
league showed. Don't forget this is our first season in the top flight. We have
learnt our lessons and we pray God will crown our efforts with success"
MFM FC
currently occupy the 17th position with 42 points same number of points as
Warri Wolves and know that their job is not made easier with FC IfeanyiUbah
needing the result in Lagos to guarantee a place in the lucrative CAF Champions
League if results elsewhere go against their continental ticket seeking rivals,
Rivers United.
Onuwa says
he is not perturbed by the pedigree of their more illustrious opponents.
"It is true that IfeanyiUbah will be looking to get the result in Lagos
but I believe that we have all it takes to beat them .We are more
psychologically prepared for this challenge. We have increased our training
routine knowing that this is the game of our lives. We are not interested in FC
IfeanyiUbah as we just want focus on ourselves"
The former
Heartland midfielder said the management has provided necessary support for the
team: "The management has been
wonderful that is why we want to get the result for them. The General Overseer
prayed for us and management led by Godwin Enakhena has provided all the
support needed. We are not being owed and as players we owe this football club
the result on Sunday.”
