Chelsea's
No. 1 went into the final day of the season against Sunderland with 16 clean
sheets to his Tottenham rival's 15, and hopes of a 17th were dashed inside
three minutes at Stamford Bridge as Javier Manquillo lashed in for the visitors
after a scrambled free kick.
A Tottenham
clean sheet away against Hull City would have seen Courtois and Lloris share
the award, but Sam Clucas' 66th-minute consolation in a 5-1 victory for Spurs
was enough to see the Belgium international confirmed as the sole winner.
Courtois
becomes only the second Chelsea goalkeeper to win the Golden Glove, though
predecessor Petr Cech claimed it in 2004-05, 2009-10 and 2013-14.
Premier
League champions Chelsea's 5-1 win over Sunderland also set a record for wins
in a season.
