Tornadoes
Football Academy of Abeokuta and CCS of Kaduna have both secured their place in
the final of Rashidi Yekini U-13 football competition.
Tornadoes
defeated Ratcom Football Academy of Ilorin 2-1 in the first semi final match
played at the Ira Township Playing Field in Oyun local government area of
Kwara.
CCS Kaduna
continued its dominance in the tournament with a resounding 3-1 win over
Deborah Foyeke Babes of Ira.
Tornadoes
had played out a one all draw with Iyabo Ibiyeye of Offa, Kwara, in the quarter
final to advanced to the semi final 5-4 via penalties.
CCS recorded
the biggest margin of the tournament after a 8-0 victory over Igbonna United
while Foyeke defeated Ira Super Stars 2-0 to get the semi final tickets.
Ratcom in
the quarter beat Golden Boys of Offa 3-0 before it set up the semi final match
with Tornadoes.
Incidentally,
the last team the late Rashidi Yekini played for was Gateway United FC of Ogun
State and grew up in Kaduna, the state of the second finalist CCS.
Meanwhile,
the final of the competition has been scheduled for Thur., May 4, a date the
late goal king died in Ibadan, the Oyo State, capital.
The sponsor
of the competition and Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki is the Special Guest
of Honour while the Chief Host is the Onira of Ira, Oba Abdulwahab Oyetoro.
