Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia have fortified its squad with the signing of
five new players and upgraded two others from the Team “B" in preparation
for the forthcoming 2017/18 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
According to
the club's media officer, Igwe Onuoha, the new players include former Nigeria
junior international goalkeeper, Uche Okafor who moved to Umuahia from
Nnewi-based FC Ifeanyi Ubah, versatile defender, Kelechi Ogoh from Sunshine
Stars of Akure, two players from the Abubakar Bukola Saraki(ABS), Ilorin
football Club, midfielder, Adeoti Muiz and striker, Ossy Martins as well as
Jackson Daniel, a former Abia Warriors striker who returned to the team after
his sojourn abroad.
The duo of
Friday Chidera and Amos Ogbuagu were promoted to the main team after receiving
the nod of the Technical Crew led by the Brazilian, Rafael Everton following
their exploits in the " B " team last season.
Abia
Warriors Management expressed confidence that the said players would help the
team achieve its ambition this season adding that other players who have
expressed the desire to join the team were being considered.
