No disappointment over Gold Cup exit, says Biffo

Katsina United technical adviser, Abdullahi Biffo says his team’s purpose of participating in this year’s prestigious Gold Cup tournament has been achieved, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.


The Chanji Boys were eliminated from the tournament on Tuesday after losing 0-1 to the defending champions, Lobi Stars in the first semifinal game at the Kwara State Stadium.

Ayo Saka's 19th goal was all Lobi Stars needed to advance to the final of the 2017 Gold Cup Preseason Tournament.

Speaking after the match, Biffo insisted that their d
efeat to Lobi Stars was not a disappointment and the tournament has helped their preparation for the forthcoming Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

He heaped praises on his boys for their performances during the competition.

" I didn't see this defeat as a disappointment because like I said our coming here was not to win but to test the level of preparations for the season, but reaching this far shows we are closer to where we want to be," Biffo said.


He added: "I want to commend the boys for adjusting to my philosophy and I want to commend the organizers of this tournament, it has assist clubs to check their level of readiness for the season.”
