Kano Pillars debunk Afelokhai return

By Taofeek Babalola

Kano Pillars Media Officer, Idris Malikawa has told SportingLife that Sai Masu Gida has no intention to bring former goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai back to the team, Sportinglens.blogspot.com can report.

Afelokhai spent majority of his football career with the Pyramid City side before moving to Enyimba last season.

A media report claimed that the former U23 goalkeeper was closed to make his return to Pillars but Malikawa described the story as unfounded.

“The information is baseless and unfounded. Nobody either from our technical crew or management talked to anybody. We didn’t talk to Afelokhai or his agent that we want him to be back. Afelokhai’s name was not among the players being shortlisted by the technical crew. So far, some of the shortlisted players are already joining our training program. We appreciated what he has done for the team but we are not looking for him. We have done with our signings,” Malikawa said to Sport.

It is understood that new players like Adamu Hassan from Nasarawa United, Ifeanyi Nweke from Rivers United and two players from junior team, Awaulu Ali and Mustapha Salisu have joined the team.
