The
President of Lagos based Nationwide side Freestan Football Club, Prince Efemena Elutabe
has made a swift reaction to a recent press release by the management of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, declaring one of its players Sunday Faleye missing from camp.
According to
him, Faleye, who was one of the brightest lights last season
for the Ibadan-based side, is a bona fide player of Freestan and was only loaned to
3SC for the last season.
“I am
surprised by the statements from the camp of 3SC declaring Faleye as their
player. It is a media campaign aimed at deceiving the football world.
“I gave
Faleye to 3SC free on loan without collecting a 'Kobo' from them. It is only for
a season. And since the season has ended, the young lad has rightly returned to
his mother club, which is Freestan FC," Elutabe explained.
He also
rubbished claims that the player absconded after collecting his monthly salary.
“This is
funny because the salary they claim to have paid the young man was for the
month of August. So what are they talking about,” he said.
The
businessman cum club owner went on to admonish the NFF and LMC to support the
smaller clubs in the country against the bully nature of bigger teams in the country.
“What’s
happening in our football is like the sharks trying to swallow up the little
fishes in the ocean. These nefarious activities must be nipped in the bud, if
the essence is truly to develop football from the grassroots,” he added.
