Lokosa scores 18th goal of the season in Katsina Utd’s rout

Kano Pillars forward Junior Lokosa scored two goals in Sai Masu Gida's 3-1 win over Katsina United in the match day 21 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano on Sunday to take his season's goals tally to 18, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.


The former First Bank of Lagos striker opened scoring in the 8th minute to the delight of home fans before his striking partner, Nyima Nwagua double the lead in the 37th minute.

The league rave of the moment, Lokosa scored his second goal of the day in the 45th minute, profiting from a mistake by Chinedu Ajanah to end the first half 3-0 in favour of the home side.

Destiny Ashadi scored a consolation goal for the visitors in the 57th but his goal was not enough to stop The Changi Boys from conceding defeat from their neighours.

Lokosa is now leading the the NPFL top goals scorers chat with 18 goals followed by Stephen Alfred with 8 goals. The trio of Nafiu Kabuga, Samson Obi and Ndifreke Effiong has seven goals apiece.  

Effiong scored his seventh goal of the season in his side's 1-0 win over Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) on Sunday at the Agege Stadium. His only goal of the encounter earned Abia Warriors a vital away victory and all three points at stake in the match.
