FC Ifeanyi Ubah forward Godwin Obaje
has expressed his joy over his side’s 2-1 win over Go Round in the matchday 20
of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Sunday, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
The home team came from behind to
secure all three maximum points at stake in the match.
Chidi Nwachukwu opened the scoring for
the visitors in the 4th minute but the Anambra Warriors leveled the score in
the 12th through Ekene awazie after receiving a pass from Chijoke Alaekwe to
end the first half 1-1.
Godwin Obaje came on for John Huan in
the 60th minute to put more pressure on the Port-Harcourt-based side and the
decision to introduce the former Wikki Tourists into the game yielded positive
result as his assist two minutes later produced the winning goal scored by Seka
Pascal in the 62nd.
“I came into the game in the 60
minutes and I gave assist for the winning goal. It was not an easy game but
thank God we were able to scale through because they scored us first. We were
not really scared because they scored the early goal in the 4th minute. I just
had the feeling that we will win when we equalised before half time. Before I
entered the pitch, the coach told me to put more pressure on their defence and that was
what I did and it paid off. I am really happy I made an impact in the
game,” Obaje said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah will travel to Calabar
for outstanding game against Enyimba on Wednesday before the trip to Yobe
Desert Stars for this weekend game.
