Kano Pillars back Lokosa for Eagles’ 23-man final squad


The management of Kano Pillars Football club is confident that the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leading goal scorer, Junior Lokosa will be part of the Super Eagles’ final 23-man list for the 2018 Russia World Cup in June,” Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.


Super Eagles’ head coach Gernot Rohr handed the Kano Pillars hitman his first national team call up when he was included in the 30-Man provisional list on Monday.

Kano Pillars described Lokosa’s invitation as a welcome development for the club and the NPFL.

The club’s media officer, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa, in a release, noted that the invitation did not come to them as a surprise, considering his current form.

"We have the confidence that Lokosa will make it through in the 23 final squad of Super Eagles and he will make the home based players proud in Russia," Malikawa said.

Malikawa then expressed the Sai Masu Gida determination to contribute its qouta towards producing quality players that will continue to represent the country at all levels.

“Recently, Rabi'u Ali was in the CHAN team in Morocco and three of our players are in the Flying Eagles which includes Jamil Muhammad Jamil, Ibrahim Alassan and Nazifi Yahaya,” the statement added.
