Tornadoes FC of Minna have released 18 players out of the registered 37 players
in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) mid-season transfer
window, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
The club's technical adviser Hamza Abara disclosed that the players who left the club were not part of his plans again.
Abara said
the decision to allow unproductive players leave the team was part of the
management’s efforts to make the Minna-based side a strong force in the league.
He added
that the club has signed six new players with the possibility of bring in additional
six or seven players before the closing of the window.
The Ikoh
Allah moved to the second position on the NPFL table after Abara took over
the mantle of the leadership, leading the team to nine unbeaten games.
“There was a
speculation before our last game against Mountain of Fire and
Miracle Ministries (MFM) that we have lost so many players. The truth of the
matter was that those players that left were not part of our plans again. Majority of
them were not picked for matches and there is no point for keeping them here any
longer. We have actually released 18 players and we have new six players in the team
already,” Abara said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com.
He added:
“We are looking at a possibility of bringing in additional six or seven players
before the closing of transfer window. We are poised to make statement with the
team this season and by the grace of God we will try our best. I am happy that
our fans are happy with the team again.”
