The management of Rangers Rangers International F.C of Enugu has announced the signing of former winger Ejike Uzoenyi ahead of the 2021/22 football league season.
Uzoenyi, a
member of Super Eagles’ AFCON 2013 winning team in South Africa and Nigeria’
team to the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil, made the switched after the
management successfully negotiated a deal with him to bring his wealth of
experience to help the team achieve its target in the coming season.
The CHAN 2014 Most Valuable Player will be making a return to the domestic league and the club he last featured in the 2013/2014 season after stints in South-Africa, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro side, OFK Titograd of Podgoria.
The
pint-sized left winger who can also be used from the right, has over fifteen
senior international caps for the country and one FIFA world cup appearance.
In a related
development, the management has concluded plans to unveil eight new players
recruited to fortify the team.
The players
that have joined the team’ training, according to the club, includes; David
Chimezie from Warri Wolves; Olawole Stephen from Dakkada; Emeka Obiora from
El-Kanemi Warriors; Ikechukwu Julius from Gateway F.C, Samuel Pam who is
joining from a Latvian top side; Philip Ogwuche from Jigawa Golden Stars; Moses
Effiong from Plateau United and Akintunde Oloyode from M.F.M while efforts are
still in top gear to get the services of seven more quality and experienced
players.
The new
players will be joining the nineteen retained by the technical crew which
include; Seidu Mutawakilu, Nana Bonsu, Tope Olusesi, Ifeanyi Nweke, Charles
Tiesso, Christian Madu, Uche John, Ebuka Anthony, Ernest Governor, Ugochukwu
Ugwuoke, Shedrack Asiegbu, Eso Achibong, Daniel Vendaga, Kenechukwu Agu,
Christian Nnaji, Elijah Ani, Chidiebere Nwobodo, Chinonso Eziekwe and Tony
Eliagwu while the duo of Chisom Chiaha and Chinedu Nwangwu who went on loan in
the past season is also available to the coaches for a possible return.
The General
Manager of the club Davidson Owumi said ahead of the season, “We have done what
is needed to keep our club on the right path to challenge effectively for a
double at the end of the 2021/2022 season. Management and the committee in
charge of recruitment did its best to get the players requested by the
technical crew and it’s our hope to get more before the start of the season to
place the club in a position to challenge for the league and Aiteo Cup double.”
