Plateau United General Manager, Pius Henwan has challenged newly appointed coaches Fidelis Ilechukwu and Hamza Abara to brace up for the challenges ahead by winning the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title for the government and the sports loving people of Plateau State, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
Ilechukwu
and Abara were unveiled Monday as its new Technical Adviser and Chief Coach
respectively after signing a two-year contract each with the Peace boys at the
club office in Jos.
Henwan
stressed that the club remains a unifying factor for people of the state as he
assured the new Technical Adviser and the Chief Coach of maximum support and
cooperation to enable them succeed, insisting that everything has been put in
place to ensure their comfort while discharging their duties.
"Plateau People are very passionate about
the club and that is why we don't want you to fail during your time as a trophy
at the end of the season or a continental ticket is always our ambition.
"The
two previous coaches that left won the league title and yours should not be an
exception. So I employ you to put your acts together and fashion out a winning
template that will propel the team to victory,” Henwan said.
However, Ilechukwu has promised to deliver the league title stressing that he cannot afford
to fail where his predecessors succeeded.
He solicited
for the cooperation of the club supporters and all other critical stakeholders
to enable him succeed, noting that everybody have a role to play in that regard.
Ilechukwu
succeeded Abdu Maikaba, whose three years contract expired last season while
Abara replaced Maurice Naanmiap, who was holding the position in an acting
capacity following the demise of late Audu Isah Pele early last year.
