Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club dug deep to beat CAMAC 73-58 in what seemed to be their toughest challenge of the Nigeria Premier Basketball League so far in Akure on Sunday.
Benjamin
Ikechukwu for the 4th time this season topped the team’s chart with 16 points
while Victor Anthony Koko dropped 15 points in Hoopers fourth successive win.
With 2:46
minutes left in the first quarter, CAMAC led Hoopers 16-7 but the KingsMen
fought back to lead by 7 at the end of the first half (32-25).
The momentum
was carried into the second-half, as the Port Harcourt based side consolidated
on their lead and ensured they remained unbeaten in the competition.
With the
four victories recorded in the Atlantic Conference of the Nigeria Premier
Basketball League, Hoopers are guaranteed a place in the Final 8 billed for
Lagos from September 26- October 2.
It will be
recalled that Rivers Hoopers reached the 100-point mark in their last win over
Lagos Raptors, as they intensified their quest to seal the sole ticket to
represent Nigeria at the next edition of the Basketball Africa League.
Up next for
the KingsMen is against Lagos Islanders on Monday, September 13.
