Three Ball Boys and two Laundry Boys were among member of Sunshine Stars FC technical crew disengaged by the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) on Thursday.
The ODSFA announced the dissolution of Sunshine Stars FC and Sunshine Queens FC technical crew in a circular letter dated 29 September, 2021. The dissolution of the two teams is with immediate effect.
“I am directed to inform the underlisted Technical Crew of Sunshine Stars FC and Sunshine Queens FC that their services will no longer be required with effect from Thursday 30th, September, 2021,” the letter reads.
The 15 affected staff includes Team Manager, Akinyelure Tokunbo, Team Secretary, Kehinde Odogun and Masseur/Physiotherapist, Adetula Abiodun Jenyo.
Others are Team Doctor, Dr Akinbunu Babatunde, Media Officer Okunnuwa Chris, Welfare Officer Abdulsallam Abdulraham, Kit Officer Wahab Abdul, Camp Commandant Abe Ayodeji, Assistant Camp Commandant Oshodi Tala as well as Club International Relation Officer Henry Afolabi.
Three Ball Boys Oria Sola, Ayodele Ademola, Adeyemi Samson and two Laundry Boys Dosumu Taiwo and Amoka Adedamola were also told to leave the club.
Interestingly, the shake-up did not affect Sunshine Stars Head coach, Deji Ayeni, who guided the Akure-based outfit to escape relegation last season.
The Owena Whales were languishing at the relegation zone and were certain to go down, before Ayeni was appointed to replace Gbenga Ogunbote who resigned from the position.
The Owena Whales put a stamp on its NPFL status on the final match day with a 1-0 win over Rivers United at the Ondo State Sports Complex.
Sunshine Stars started the league
season on a shaky note having 18 winless games in a row.
