Nkiyu: Wikki Tourists’ confidence is back

By Taofeek Babalola

Wikki Tourists Technical Adviser Bala Nkiyu has said that his boys are more determined than ever before as he promised to turn things around for the team, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.

Nkiyu, who replaced Mohammed Baba Ganaru, won his first game since his appointment as new coach of the team when his side defeated Abia Warriors 3-0 in the marchday 20 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in Bauchi on Sunday.

Goals from Ahmed Usman, Chukwudi Samuel and Mohammed sealed the victory for the Big Elephants.

In a chat with sportinglens.blogspot.com the former Katsina United manager said his boys are playing better and ready to deliver.

Nkiyu, who was visibly happy with the performance of his players, urged them to put extra efforts so as to achieve the set target.

"We know the task in our hands and we must work harder to achieve it. We thank God for the victory over Abia Warriors. It was a collective effort of the management, technical crew and players. The players are good more than before because they know what is at stake. We will approach all matches with all seriousness. I thank the management for the opportunity given me to handle the team. I pray that at the end of the season we will achieve something tangible for the club,” Nkiyu told Sportinglens.blogspot.com.

The result over Abia Warriors showed that the change in Wikki Tourists Football Club has started yielding positive results.

The result had moved Wikki Tourists out of the relegation zone and now 16 on the log table with 24 points.
