AITEO CUP: Biffo dreams final ticket with Katsina United

By Taofeek Babalola

Katsina United technical adviser, Abdullahi Biffo is confident of his team's ability to reach the final stage of the ongoing Aiteo Cup competition, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.

Katsina United' will face Kano Pillars in the semi final clash on Wednesday at the Agege Stadium in a northern derby tie.

Biffo guided 'The Changi Boys' to a 3-1 victory over Kwara United in the quarter final clash on Wednesday at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.

Goals from Destiny Ashadi, Tasiu Lawal and Martins Usule ensured that  Katsina United
are through to the semifinals after they saw off the much determined Kwara United, who fought until the end but eventually surrendered to a more experienced and tactical opponent.

Kwara United scored a consolation goal from the penalty spot through Segun Alebiosu after Uche was hacked down in the box by Chinedu Ajanah to half the deficit before the break.

Biffo told Sportinglens.blogspot.com that his team will prepare well for the game against Kano Pillars.

" I don’t know what happened to my players because we played the worst game (against Kwara United) since I joined Katsina United, but I thank them for being tactical, disciplined and full of energy throughout the game. We capitalised on their defensive blunders to score our three goals and win the game. Kwara United had scoring opportunities too but they failed to utilise it. What happened in the game worked in our favour and I thanked God for that,” Biffo said in a chat with SportingLife.

He added: “It does not matter how the goals were scored but the important thing is the victory that we got in the game. We are now in the semifinal and closer to the trophy. We have to go back and work a lot harder than what we have been doing before so that when we meet Kano Pillars in the semi-final we will beat them to get to the final. We are still improving as a team, but we are yet to reach our target and so we will keep working hard.”
