The management of Kano Pillars has given a two-week break to its players after their Aiteo Cup final defeat to Rangers International of Enugu on Wednesday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.

Rangers International overcame a 0-3 deficit to beat Kano Pillars 4-2 on penalties.

In a telephone conversation with Sportinglens.blogspot.com the club’s media officer, Idris Malikawa, said only players who received calls from the club’s management should resume back after the break.

Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports that the players are expected to resume training on November 9th for preparations for 2018/2019 session.

“We are going to consider the technical crew reports before making any decision on the players. They are still our players but we will only call back those that are serious and ready to give all their best to the club. Only players that receive calls from the management would be back to the club camp at the end of the break,” Malikawa told Sportinglens.blogspot.com.

“It was unfortunate how we handled yesterday’s match, from leading 3-0 and allowed Rangers to come back to level draw 3-3, but that is football. We are saying sorry to our teeming supporters, State Government and good people of Kano State.

He added: “Management, players and technical crew expressed their gratitude to the government, people of Kano state and entire fans of the club across the globe for always supporting the team spiritually and morally, particularly Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and his deputy, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna for their financial support to the team.

“On behalf of our management we are saying congratulations to Enugu Rangers International for the victory and wish them successful outing in the forthcoming confederation cup that they going to represent our dear country.”
