Katsina
United Technical Adviser Abdullahi Biffo is pleased with the performance of his
team in the 2018 AITEO Cup competition despite their semi-final defeat to Kano
Pillars on Wednesday, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
Katsina
United came back from two goals down to draw level against Kano Pillars before
losing 4-1 on penalties at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.
In a chat
with Sportinglens.blogspot.com, the former Niger Tornadoes manager said he is going to
take the positives from the competition.
“Aiteo Cup provided best opportunity for us to
test our young players. We made positive impact in the competition and there
are lots of positive things to take from the tournament. We have a young team
and we will build on our achievement in the Aiteo Cup. We have identified some
areas we have to work on before the next season,” Biffo said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com.
Speaking on
the outcome of the game against Kano Pillars, Biffo added: “We tried our best
in the game against pillars but our best was not enough. We played till the
final minute and ensured that we got the equalizer. We could have got the
winning goal but my boys relaxed and I was surprised that my boys didn’t push
for the winning goal because Kano Pillars was tired towards the end of the
game. Also, Kano Pillars have their goalkeeper David Obiazo to thank for making
frantic saves in the game. Obiazo made the difference in the game.
“It takes a
team with good character to come back from a two goal down and still draw the
game. What happened in the game against Pillars proved that anything can still
happen in the game of football before the final whistle. And a game against Kano Pillars is like a
derby. Kano Pillars is a champion and if you want to beat a champion you have
to play like a champion. We still tried and we are going home with our shoulder
high.”
