Kano Pillars
striker Junior Lokosa is still in shock over his side’s dramatic Aiteo Cup
final defeat to Rangers International at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on
Wednesday, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
It was a
game believed to have been won and lost after Sai Masu Gida scored its third goal
of the night through Nyima Nwagua before the Flying Antelopes remarkably came
back from three goals down to draw 3-3, and stretched the game to penalties
before winning it 4-2.
Rabiu Ali
and Alassan Ibrahim had given Pillars a 2-0 lead in the first half before
Kelvin Itoya, Chidera Ezeh and Ajani Ibrahim cancelled the three goals.
Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports that a visibly angry Lokosa could not hold back his feelings after the
game and blamed players for the outcome of the game.
Lokosa, who
was observed soliloquizing after the match, said: “Football requires courage
and determination. So where is our determination and courage.”
“We gave
everything to the game and we did everything required from us as strikers
upfront; scoring goals but it was very unfortunate that we could not play
together as fighters and allowed goals to be scored in that manner. Haa! What
am I going to tell people of Kano State and our fans? How can I explain to them
that we were leading 3-0 and we eventually lost the game? This is not a good
story to tell and we should have put in more effort to win it.”
