FED CUP LOSS: Nasarawa United miss Governor Al Makura’s land, million Naira gift

Players of Nasarawa United missed the opportunity to get cash gist of a million naira and plots of land in Karu promised them by the State Governor Tanko Al Makura after they lost the final of the Federation Cup to FC IfeanyiUbah. The Solid Miners were defeated by Anambra Warriors 5-4 on penalties after 0-0 on the regulation time.
“His excellency the Governor of Nasarawa State promised the boys plots of land and a million Naira each to win the cup, but it was not meant to be,” said Nasarawa chairman Isaac Danladi.

“We should have won the match has our boys converted their scoring chances. They should still be commended and appreciated for this yeoman’s job.”

The club boss lamented that his team were not lucky on the day even with Governor Tanko Al Makura watching from the stands of the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

“We were the better team, but IfeanyiUbah were the luckier side and their tactics were more effective,” he reviewed.

“They did everything to drag the game to penalties, which they had practiced seriously before this match. And a penalty shootout is anybody’s game.”
