Governor Dankwanbo hosts Gombe Utd, promises financial support

Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has assured players and officials of Gombe United that all club’s indemnity, players’ match bonuses as well as season's kick off funds would be provided by his administration. Governor Dankwambo stated this while addressing the delegation when he received the management board, technical crew, players and supporters of Gombe United at the Government House on Thursday.

Dankwambo said the gesture is part of his own way of expressing appreciation for returning back to the Nigeria Professional Football League after two years sojourn in the Nigeria National League (NNL) at the just concluded season.

The number one state citizen acknowledged the fact that sports in general is money making venture and an avenue of providing jobs to the teaming youth, for this reason, his decision to give top priority to the sports sector, citing the proposed Institute Of Sports.

 The multi-award winning Governor of the year challenged Corporate organizations, financial institutions and wealthy individuals especially indigene to invest in the sector, in order to reduce the over relying on government for funds.

He assured that if the Savannah Scorpions wins the premier league, whatever assistance needed to execute the continental campaign would be provided.

The General Manager of the club, Alh. Salihu Adviser, who led the delegation, explained to the governor that their visit was meant to appreciate his goodwill to the club, saying his passion and concern is second to none.

While assuring to reciprocate the gesture, Alh.Salihu appealed for financial intervention to achieve their set target.

The Governor paid special tribute to the former captain of the club, Alhaji Kwairanga who spent over twenty seasons describing him as a true son of the soil.
