Ogunbajo seeks Premier League honour in Iraq

.Wins Best Professional Player Award

An unknown Nigerian Footballer, Benjamin Ogunbajo has taken the Iraqi Kurdistan League by storm this season where he currently makes waves with one of the leading clubs, Kirkuk Sports Club.

The 20-year-old former Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Atiba United FC striker joined the Kirkuk-based club side midway into the 2016/17 season and has made instant impression with awe catching performances, scoring four goals and two assists to help his club secure a slot in the season ending Super four play-off.

Ogunbajo, who is eyeing a bigger offer in Europe any time soon, had earlier in January clinched the coveted 'BEST PROFESSIONAL PLAYER AWARD' for the 1st Round of the season, a merit award for the best foreign player in the Iraqi Kurdistan League.

With these heroics, the Lagos born star who has now become the fans favourite with another Nigerian, Ajibade Malomo has promised to help Kirkuk FC clinch the League diadem through the play off Championship which kicked off last Thursday at the magnificent Olympic Stadium in Kirkuk. This he said will help him to realize his dreams of putting on d green white green colours of d national team.

"I give all glory to the Almighty God, my teammates and friend, Malomo for helping me settle down quickly at my club, Kirkuk FC. Winning an individual award here as Best Professional Player is fantastic and has definitely motivated me to do more. But the ultimate is to finish up with the League title which I believe is quite realistic.

“My next target after the League title is to play in Europe and attract invitation from the National team handlers. It's the dream of every footballer to play for his country and I'm focused to achieving that soonest," he said.

The Super four tournament which will produce d new Kurdistan champions is featuring Pershmaga Erbil Fc, Nawroz Fc, Sharwana Fc and Kirkuk Sports Club.
