Wikki Tourists' win over Katsina United was difficult, says Kobi

By Taofeek Babalola

Wikki Tourists media officer, Abdullahi Nasiru Kobi has described his side’s 2-1 victory over Katsina United in the match day 14 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Sunday as a narrow win.

Wikki Tourists players were handed a three-match ultimatum by the club’s management on Thursday following a poor run of results but players and technical crew finally heaved a sigh of relief after the win on Sunday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.

The Big Elephants led the visiting Katsina United by a lone goal at the interval courtesy of Victor Yakubu’s goal from the spot after a goal-bound Chinedu Onyelonu was hauled down by Katsina United defender, Ado Ali in the 5th minute.

The visitors leveled the score with barely two minutes from the start of the second half through Destiny Ashadi but Wikki Tourists came back smoking with a late resurgence and Peter Ambrose came to the rescue with his 84th minute shot that gave a home side needed victory.

In a chat with Sportinglens.blogspot.com, Kobi said: “It was a very hard victory. It was very terrible. We watched the match with pressure. We have been under pressure since our last home game against MFM but we thank God that we won today. It was a narrow escape for us. I have told our medical doctor that I will come for my Blood Pressure (BP) checkup”
