Rangers International FC of Enugu, Imama Amapakabo believes Flying Antelopes can upturning their 4-1 loss to
Zamalek in the competition's round of 32 first-leg at Cairo's El-Salam Stadium
on Sunday and still qualify for the group stages.
On the team’s arrival on Tuesday, Amapakabo rued the 4-1 defeat by his
team, describing it as ’unfortunate’.
According to him, his players did their best but it was not their day.
He stressed that his players and coaches have put the loss behind them and now
focusing on the return leg match on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium
Enugu by 3pm.
He added that, with proper planning and re-strategising as well as
ability to correct mistakes observed in the first leg at Cairo, he is very
optimistic that Rangers will cancel the first leg result in Cairo and go ahead
to win and qualify for the group stage.
He admitted that Sunday’s match will be an uphill task, but definitely realisable
giving example of Barcelona FC versus PSG Champions League game which Barcelona
lost 4 – 0 in the first leg but came back to trash PSG 6 -1 in the return leg.
