Akwa United
have strengthen its squad with six new players ahead of the second round of the
Nigeria Professional Football League which start on Saturday.
According to
the chairman of the club, Paul Bassey, the new signing include Papillo FC
Michael Ikpe who netted two pass Rivers United in the Federation Cup match in
Uyo.
Others are
Alhassan Dosso, Julius Gideon, Hassan Babangida, Amaechi Orji and Fortune
Omoniwari erstwhile Heartland FC prolific attacker.
It is
expected that the players will be lined up on Saturday against Shooting Stars Sports
Club (3SC) in Ibadan.
The promised
Keepers became the first club to register their new signing with the League Management
Company (LMC).

Chief Operating Officer, Salihu Abubakar congratulates Akwa United Chairman
Paul Bassey for been the first club to register in the mid season transfer window.
An important
criteria used for the mid season registration included proof of payment of
players salary up to March, none owing of bonuses and other allowances. Players
of the club are to sign attestation confirming same.
Bassey
appreciated the kind words said about him and the club by the LMC boss and paid
glowing tribute to football loving Governor Udom Emmanuel who had given him
massive support in the discharge of his duties. “I thank his Excellency for his
support both financially and otherwise. I also thank my commissioner Sir Monday
Uko for standing by me. The only way we can reward them is by returning to
Africa," Bassey said.
