LMC urged to monitor big games

The League Management Company (LMC) has been advised to appoint a high power monitoring team to all centers for the remaining matches of the 2015 /2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in order to avoid an alleged match fixing by some of the clubs in contention for continental slot.

Rivers United, FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Wikki Tourists are battling for the remaining two continental tickets after Rangers International had already secured a CAF Champions League with 60 points.

An anonymous stakeholder said this is to avoid a repeat of Akwa United 13 - 0 against the then Calabar Rovers and also in another inglorious outing between Zamfara United and Katsina United, where 13 goals were scored just to favour a particular team. He further said that those were not actually a good memory for Nigerian Football and a repeat of it will spell doom for the round leather game not only in the country but the entire African continent considering the fact that Nigerian Football is currently rated the best African domestic football.

It is on this note that league followers are challenging the League Management Company (LMC) to critically monitor matches involving Wikki Tourists vs Sunshine Stars, Akwa United vs Rivers United as well as MFM vs FC Ifeanyi Ubah in order to have genuine representatives at the end of the day.

“The spirit of fair play should be allowed to take place and the better team takes the day. This will surely produce the best team that will represent the country in the continental engagement. This desperation by some clubs should be condemned and league managers should ensure sanity in the affairs of football in the country," he said.
