Super Eagles striker Alex Iwobi and Hector Bellerin are set to be handed new contracts, according to reports. The young
Arsenal pair have impressed Arsene Wenger during his side’s strong start to the
season and he is eager to reward them with new deals, Goal claim.
Iwobi’s
current deal runs until 2020, while Bellerin’s runs out a season earlier.
The former,
who scored his first international goal for Nigeria yesterday, has earned
plenty of praise from Arsenal supporters this season after breaking through
into the first team last year.
Iwobi only
signed a contract extension six months ago, but Wenger sees him as part of his
long-term plans and wants to ensure his future remains in north London.
Meanwhile,
Arsenal are feeling more inclined to get Bellerin to commit himself to the
club.
The Spaniard
has attracted plenty of interest from Manchester City and Barcelona in recent
months.
Pep
Guardiola is understood to be a big fan of the 21-year-old, while the Catalan
giants are also keen to reunite with him at the Nou Camp having let him leave
for the Gunners in 2011.
The report
suggests Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are also in line for new deals -
although the star duo are thought to be demanding wages of around £250,000 a
week.
