Algeria tie: Lack of games may affect home-based players’ chances

The chances of the Super Eagles home-based players to make final selection for the November 12 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Desert Foxes of Algeria is very slim. The Super Eagles assistant coach Salisu Yusuf informed Sportinglens.blogsport that there are fears among the Eagles’ technical crew that most of the home-based players were out of action since the last game of the Just concluded Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) last month.

Yusuf said the importance attached to the Desert Foxes’ game may force technical crew to pick only players that are on top form for the game.

“This is not an experimental game. It is a game that must be approached will all seriousness. The home-based players are match-rusty at the moment and they are with their family. There is no way to train alone and since the last game of the NPFL majority of them have not engaged in a competitive match. It will involve a lot of conviction before the technical crew considers them for the game,” Yusuf told Sportinglens.blogsport.com.
