Wikki Tourists commend Governor Abubakar for league success




The management of Wikki Tourists of Bauchi has commended exemplary leadership role of Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar in ensuring that the team secured a continental ticket at the just concluded 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The Bauchi-based side finished third position on the league table which gives them the chance to play in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

According to the club’s media officer, Nasiru Abdullahi Kobi, Governor Abubakar has achieved a unique feat which his predecessors have tried to accomplish in the past 18 years when the club last played at the continental level, insisting that the Governor’s financial backing helped the team to make a laudable achievement this session.

“Governor Abubakar is number one supporter of Wikki Tourists. He is always there for the team anytime we called on him. His moral and financial support to the team this season is really commendable. On behalf of the club and people of the state we say thank you to his Excellency for his encouragement. As the club is anticipating to representing the country very well in the CAF Confederation Cup, we pleaded with the state government for more support so that we can go far in the tournament,” Kobi said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com.

Kobi has however extended the club’s appreciation to fans of the club for solidly behind the team this season. He also commended the media for full coverage of the team in the year in review.

“Our fans really exhibited true sportsmanship for their love and support to the team this season. Their never-to-say-die attitude throughout this season is commendable. We promise not to disappoint them in the continental assignment. We thank our friend in the media for the full coverage of our team. We also thanked everybody who contributed in one way or the other for this achievement,” he added.

Kobi also assured that the management of the club will work very hard in ensuring that they present a formidable team for the NPFL and CAF Confederation cup next season.
“What we achieved this season is a challenge to us and we want to surpass it next season. Our management under our amiable chairman Hon. Isa Matori is promising our fans that they will see the best of Wikki Tourists next season. It will be a collective responsibility of everybody and we will not leave any stone unturned in ensuring that we achieve something tangible next season.”
