Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has
attributed selfish interest among the management and team’s poor performance
for the dissolution of the Kano Pillars board. Governor Ganduje dissolved the board on Wednesday in
a farewell message to Kano Pillars basketball team who are on their way to Togo
for this year's West African basketball championship.
The Governor frowned at the way the outgoing board
handled the affairs of the club in the just concluded Nigeria Professional
Football League (NPFL) despite all the support and commitment of his
administration to the team.
“I am not happy with what happen in the outgoing
board were the members are fighting themselves for their own interest instead
to put heads together to move the club forward,” Governor Ganduje said.
Governor Ganduje
has directed Kano State Sports Commission chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima to
come up with new recommendations on how to restructure the board without further
delay.
He said
Kano State government would ensure a quality and sound coach would be employed
to take the charge of the technical crew of the team in order to revive its
glory.
Dr. Ganduje said the outgoing board was appointed
base on confidence but they disappointed him and wish them the best in their
future endeavors.
However, Galadima said they were at government
house to thank the Governor for his concern to the sports activities in the
state.
He then decorated Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje
with Pillar of Pillars award to round off the ceremony.
