Nigerian
fans planning to attend next year's World Cup in Russia next summer should be
prepared to pay more for accommodation as many hotels have significantly hiked
their prices, according to a report.
Nigeria's
Super Eagles became the first African country to book a ticket to the soccer showpiece
following a 1-0 win over Zambia in their last group qualifying match in Uyo
with a match to spare.
Many
Nigerians who are expected to travel out to follow success of the Super Eagles
next June and July will know the cities to stay after the draw for the finals
stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia which will take place on December 1,
2017, in Moscow.
According to
research published by the Daily Star, some hotels are charging more than seven
times their regular rates during the period.
Five-star
hotel Helvetia will cost £770 a night, up from £110, while The Ambassador Hotel
will cost £394 a night, up from £80.
Among the
cheaper options is the three-star Baltiya, available at £117 a night, up from
the usual £40.
