Ubah coach Yaw Preko has advised Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to look for
a natural grass pitch to play finals of the Aiteo Cup if they want to see
the best of the players, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
The Ghanaian
coach made this assertion on Nigeria Football Support Platform after Sunday’s
Aiteo Cup final between Akwa United and Niger Tornadoes at the Agege Stadium,
Lagos.
Akwa United
defeated Niger Tornadoes 3-2 on penalties after goalless score at the regulation
time but the game did not live up to the expectation of the ardent football followers.
But the
tactician was of the view that the Agege stadium (artificial grass) did not
bring out the best out of the players which made the game look boring to the spectators.
The former
Accra Hearts of Oak assistant Coach also faulted NFF for introducing CAF ball
(which the players were not used to) for the final clash on Sunday.
He said: “My
only advice to these finals is that they should stop playing it on artificial grass
and you will see the best of the teams. Why are they using CAF balls when you
don't even train with it, very wrong? In short, we need to put a lot in order or
else the finals will always be boring from my point of view, thanks.”
