Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt have dropped former
Nasarawa United midfielder, Esosa Igbinoba and nine others from the 31 players
registered for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) last season, Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports.
According to a release made available to SportingLife on
Friday, Igbinoba’s name was conspicuously missing among the 21 players retained
by the club for the new season.
The former Lobi Stars player failed to re-enact his
top-notch performance that attracted Rivers United to sign him from Nasarawa
United at the end of 2015/2016 season.
Esosa was instrumental in the Nasarawa United campaign last
year and he was part of the squad that led the Solid Miners to the final of the
federation Cup in 2016 which they lost to FC IfeanyiUbah at the Teslim Balogun
Stadium.
Rivers United will commence preparations for the 2017/18
season on Monday, October 16 and 21 players were retained among the 31 players
registered for last season.
The retained players are Festus Austine, Sunday Rotimi,
Abiodun Akande, Chiwendu Ali, Markson Ojobo, Bernard Ovoke , Guy Kuemian,
Olalekan Gabriel, Ayobami Asekunowo and Semiu Liadi.
Others are Obomate Frederick, Daniel Israel, Weli Christian, Kingsley Patrick, Bolaji
Sakin, Emeka Ogbugh, Aliasou Sanou, Doumbia Zoumana, Emeka Atuloma, Kanoute Abdoulaye and Ifeanyi Nweke.
