IfeanyiUbah’s captain Thompson, Oni out of Katsina Utd tie

FC Ifeanyi Ubah Captain Thompson Emmanuel and Jimoh Oni have been ruled out of today’s Federation Cup round of 16 tie against Katsina United because of injuries. Thompson was rested out of precaution after feeling pain towards the end of Sunday’s match against Ikorodu United while Oni sustained a knock during training session last week.

Also, Wasiu Jimoh, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Ismaila Gata, Isaac Loute, Adah Stephen, Tope Orelope, Okoh Emmanuel are all absent from this afternoon match at the Ilorin Township Stadium because they are cup tied.

However, Maduabuchi Okereke has been included in the matchday squad after being rested for Sunday’s NPFL match against Ikorodu United.
 
The team’s defender Elu Wilson has expressed confidence that the team has what it takes to qualify for the next round.

‘The Mood in Camp is good, the spirit is high, we are now five matches without defeat and we are sure to scale through.’

In the same light, coach Rafael of FC Ifeanyi Ubah has also expressed confidence going into Wednesday’s Federation Cup match.

‘Katsina are a very good side, they are toping their group in the NNL but my players are getting better too especially the new players, we always knew it was going to take a while for them to settle down but now they are there.’

‘We all know how important this match is for the club and we will approach this match with every seriousness, our objective is to get as far as we can in this tournament and so we will put up a good performance to that effect’
 
Also speaking ahead of Wednesday’s clash is club chairman Chukwuma Ubah. The chairman expressed confidence in the team and backed them to get the win.

‘We are now five games without defeat, and the boys are playing better am confident we will get the win tomorrow.’

When asked on whether the players will minimize their opponents, the chairman was quick to dismiss the thoughts


‘The boys know what is at stake and how much this tournament means to the fans and management so am very confident that they will play at their best.’
