Super Eagles
striker Ahmed Musa performances was not enough to save his new club, Leicester
City from an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint Germain in a pre-season
friendly on Sunday morning in California. The Nigerian
international came on as a second half substitute for Okazaki in the 46 minutes
but his efforts proved nothing, as the premier league champions were outclassed
by Unai Emery's side, who were somewhat unlucky not to increase their lead.
Goals from Edinson Cavani, Jonathan Ikone and Lucas Moura and Odsonne Edouard gave Paris Saint-Germain victory.
Goals from Edinson Cavani, Jonathan Ikone and Lucas Moura and Odsonne Edouard gave Paris Saint-Germain victory.
This is the
first defeat for the former Kano Pillars forward in the colour of Foxes as he
won the previous two games. The first game was against Oxford United whichh ended
2-1, second victory was against Celtic who they defeat to win the international
champions cup.
Claudio
Ranieri made a raft of changes at the interval to provide his side a greater
appearance of full-strength, sending on record signing Musa, Danny Drinkwater,
Marc Albrighton, Christian Fuchs, and Danny Simpson.
And they
should have halved the deficit three minutes after the restart. Musa produced
an almighty leap to flick on Schmeichel’s clearance and Albrighton acted
quickly to play Leonardo Ulloa clear. The Argentine striker’s finish was well
blocked by Areola but Ulloa collected the rebound and crossed for Musa,
unmarked eight yards out. The Nigerian fluffed his finish though and the ball
went tamely wide.
Ranieri's
side face Barcelona in their final International Champions' Cup friendly on
August 3 in Stockholm.
