Olympics miss, a blessing in disguise, Says Makalala

Lobi Stars midfielder Victor Makalala has described his omission from the final list of the national U-23 Rio Olympics squad as a blessing in disguise. Makalala, who was part of the team's camp in Abuja for the preparation, was not included in the 35-man Olympics provisional list.

The Dream Team VI are currently camping in USA from where they will play series of tune-up matches before traveling to Brazil for the Olympics.

The 22-year-old star said he had no bad feelings about the list as he promised to always give his best anytime he is call to national team duty.

"I think it is a wish of every player to represent his country and I want to thank coach Siasia for the invitation to be at the camp in Abuja. I tried my best to make the list but coach has the final say," Makalala said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com.

Makalala has since returned to his club, Lobi Stars, and the former Igho FC of Sapele star expressed hope that the Makurdi-based outfit will end the season well.

“We have good team in Lobi Stars and we have good technical crew. We have players who want to make name for themselves. The league is competitive but I belief in my team and the management under Mike Idoko,” he said.
