Kano
Pillars’ head coach, Kadiri Ikhana has said that his side’s away draw against
Rivers United in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on
Wednesday is a morale booster to his team.
Amos Gyang
scored a stunning header in the second half to hand Kano Pillars a share of the
spoils against Rivers United after Godbless Asamoah had given United the lead
in first half stoppage time with a supreme finish but the hosts were pegged
back after the break as Pillars fought back to claim its first away point of
the season.
Ikhana also
claimed that Sai Masu Gida were lucky to avoid defeat in Port Harcourt.
He advised
Rivers United head Coach Stanley Eguma to be focused in their CAF matches and
try to win away match in order to go far in the competition.
“The point
is a great one and it would be a motivating factor to the team in the next
matches, particularly away games. The game was good because the two teams
played very well and it is not easy to get a point here considering the form of
Rivers United who is playing in the CAF Champions League,” Ikhana said to Sportinglens.blogspot.com.
Pillars will
host Katsina United on Sunday in a match day 10 encounter at the Sani Abacha
Stadium, Kano.
The club’s
Media Officer, Idris Malikawa, said: “Thank God that we have broken the jinx of
not getting away point and by God grace next away game would be maximum
points.”
