Players and
officials of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Rivers United
departed Nigeria for Mali on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s CAF Champions League game
against AS Real Bamako.
The
contingent which is comprised of 20 players and 13 officials left the country
via the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos at exactly 9:40am and arrived
at the Houphouet Boigny International Airport, Abidjan at 10; 20am Nigerian
time before the contingent proceeded to its final destination, Bamako.
Technical
manager of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma has assured that the team will give Nigeria
creditable representation in Mali on Saturday.
“They boys have worked hard. We know what is expected of us and we will give it our best to try to make the second leg in Nigeria a formality in a week time,” Eguma said.
