Nigeria has
been drawn to meet the winner of the Benin - Togo tie for a place at the 2018
African Nations Championship to be held in Kenya.
The Super
Eagles, who came third in the 2014 edition of the tournament, were given a bye
by the Confederation of African Football (Caf) and will await the winner of the
qualifying tie between the Sparrow Hawks of Togo and Squirrels of Benin.
If Nigeria
can beat any of the sides on a home and away basis, it will assure a return to
the Chan event for a third straight time.
Under former
coach Sunday Oliseh, the Super Eagles were knocked out of the last edition in
Rwanda in the group stage from a group that included Niger, Guinea and Tunisia.
The
two-legged qualifiers will be held between 11-20 August, 2017. The 2018 CHAN
event will be held in Kenya from 11 January to 2 February, 2018.
