The General Manager of Rangers International FC,
Christian Chukwu has pleaded with League Management Company (LMC) to consider
the teams that have CAF engagement by spacing their rescheduling league matches
to enable their players to be fit for the continental assignments.
Rangers will host Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi on Wednesday
in an outstanding Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match day seven
at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu by 4pm, and travel to Lagos on Thursday to
confront MFM FC of Lagos in a match day 10 game on Friday.
Chukwu said the team is poised to win its Nigeria three
outstanding matches and garner maximum nine points.
He believes nine points will place Flying Antelopes among
the first three in league table with fifteen points from nine matches. Rangers
had secured six points from six matches with three matches outstanding.
“Though the continental engagement has taken its toll on
the players, they are still at home and have strong characters to also play out
their matches in the premier league but I am appealing to the LMC to consider
the teams that have CAF engagement by rescheduling and spacing league matches
to enable their players to be fit for the continental assignments,” Chukwu
said.
The Flying Antelopes progressed to the next stages of the
Champions League on away goals rules following a goalless draw in Sunday’s CAF
Champions League second leg preliminary round in Enugu against J.S.SAOURA FC of
Algeria. The Nigeria representative forced J.S.SAOURA FC of Algeria to 1-1 draw
in the first leg in Algeria.
Rangers will meet Zamalek FC of Egypt in the round of 32.
