First league game delights Zikiye

By Taofeek Babalola

Wikki Tourists defender Jonathan Zikiye has promised to give his best to the team as long as he is getting a chance to play. Zikiye played his first league game for Wikki Tourists against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week 7 on Wednesday since he joined the club from Kano Pillars at the beginning of the season.

The former Nembe City left full back admitted to Sportinglife that it has not been easy for him to cope with the emotions of not getting a chance to contribute to the progress of the team.

“Well, I must say that I am happy within and outside of me for getting a platform to contribute my quota to the team. It's not been easy coping with the emotions of not playing all this while but as a professional you just have to adjust and adapt to any situation you find yourself.  I am happy that I was involved in the match and we won. I am ready to always give my best to the team and I believe we can achieve something under coach Mohammed Baba Ganaru,” Zikiye told SportinglIfe.

Zikiye was part of the squad that traveled to Ilorin for Sunday’s week 10 game against ABS and the former Dolphins FC of Port-Harcourt star is confident of his team's ability  to get good result in the game.

"We're hoping to get a good result there, we know ABS are a good side but we will give our best shot and see what comes out of it," he said.
