Sportinglens.blogspot.com can reveal that Bauchi State Governor, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar
led government delegation to Serial Leone to support Wikki Tourists ahead of
today’s CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round first leg encounter against
Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) of Sierra Leone .
Wikki
Tourists media officer, Abdullahi Nasiru Kobi disclosed to SportingLife that
Governor Abubakar left Bauchi for Freetown on Friday with 8-man delegation
while another three government officials joined him on Saturday.
Kobi said
the governor’s decision to make the trip is a morale booster to the team,
stressing that his presence at the stadium will go a long way to encourage the
boys today at the Wusum Sports Stadium, Makeni, Sierra Leone.
SportingLife
reports that players and officials of Wikki Tourists arrived in Serial Leone on
Saturday with 39-man delegation. The contingent comprised of 18 players, five
members of technical crew, two medical personnel, two media officials, club’s
chairman, Secretary, accountant and two members of supporters club.
Others are
State Commissioner for Sports, Ibrahim Madaki Saleh, SA media to the Governor,
two NFF representatives and three members of State House of Assembly.
The Big
Elephants had a training session at the Nigeria Institute for Sports, Lagos on
Friday evening before they embarked on their journey on Saturday.
In a chat
with SportingLife, Kobi is optimistic of his side’s victory against RSLAF.
“This is
huge for us as a team. The governor has really shown to us that he is a father
of all. Despite his busy schedule he still found time out to come and support
us. I want to tell you that the Governor is here with his delegation and we
really appreciate it. We are highly motivated
for the game and ready to go for victory. The management and coaching crew have
done their bit by telling the players what it is expected of them in the match.
