Abia Warriors accept Boboye’s resignation

Nigeria Professional Football League outfit, Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia says it has accepted the resignation of its Manager, Kennedy Boboye, who threw in the towel after the club’s goalless draw with visiting Akwa United last Saturday in Umuahia just after eight months in charge.

Boboye, who joined the Warriors at the beginning of this season, took the league by storm and emerged as the MANAGER OF THE MONTH of February following Abia Warriors explosive start which saw them become first team in the Nigerian top flight to go 10 matches unbeaten from the beginning of the season.

But the club dwindled in form after a number of high profile players sustained injuries while national assignments and transfers took others away.

In the resignation letter he addressed to the club’s Chairman, Chief Emeka Inyama, Boboye said he had to quit as it has become apparent that he could not meet the target he set for himself at the beginning

of the season and thanked the club for giving him the opportunity to serve.

“I thank the club for giving me the opportunity to serve and I wish them well in their future endeavours”, said the former Sunshine Stars of Akure Coach.

In a reaction, the club said it has accepted the resignation and also wished him well in his future assignments.
