NSA charges Olympic team to go for Gold

As the Rio 2016 Olympic Games gathers momentum with participating individuals from different countries intensifying training in preparation for the Games, organizers of the Nigerian Sports Award (NSA), have urged all athletes representing Nigeria to give their best and go for gold at the event by winning all available medals.

Rio 2016 Olympic Games is scheduled to hold between 5th of August and 21st of August, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with 75 Nigerian athletes representing the country across various sport categories.

According to the Executive Director of Unmissable Incentives, Mr. Kayode Idowu, the athletes participating in the Rio Games must ensure that they improve on the country’s poor past performances by giving their best every time they adorn the country’s national colour at every point of the competition.

‘’Nigerians are expecting so much from Team Nigeria at the forthcoming Rio Games, they want to see that every single athlete from the Nigerian soil wins all available medals and dominates the different sports that they will be partaking in, this can only be achieved through strong focus and determination’’ he said.

In honour of one of Nigeria’s greatest sportman, the Nigerian Sports Award (NSA) in its own unique way paid tribute to the legend, late Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, by providing the customized jerseys worn by ex-international football players for the novelty match played in his honour at the Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City – Edo State on Thursday July 28.

Late Stephen Keshi was a recipient of the prestigious Nigerian Sports Award at the 2nd Edition of the Award in 2013, where he was conferred the Coach of the Year Award.

According to Ejiro Omonode, a member of the Nigerian Sports Award Panel, the gesture to honour late Stephen Keshi was to recognize him firstly as a legend, player and coach, secondly as a past winner of the Nigerian Sports Award.
