Mathias targets top four finish with El-Kanemi

El-Kanemi Warriors FC midfielder Samuel Mathias believes his club can finish in the top four at the end of the season. The Borno Armies held Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) to a goalless draw and secured a vital away point during their week 31 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan on Wednesday.

In a chat with Sportinglens.blogspot.com, Mathias admitted that the game against 3SC was 50-50, stressing that the draw is a morale booster to his team’s aspiration.

“It was a good game and we thanked God that we picked a point against 3SC. This is a good thing for me and my team. It will go a long way in helping us to end the season among the top four. The game was very to and it was 50-50 chance. We were focused and determined,” Mathias told Sportinglens.blogspot.com.

Mathias added that he and his teammates won’t allow the draw against 3SC get into their heads as they look forward to a favourable result in their next game against Sunshine Stars in Maidiguri on Sunday.

“Our focus now is our match against Sunshine Stars and we are hoping for a total victory in the game. The is a crucial time in the league and every game is very important,” he said.

El Kanemi Warriors occupies 16th position on the log with 39 points after 30 matches.
