The management
of Akwa United FC has revealed that it is targeting five new signings to
replace those that have left in
the mid-season transfer window.
Sportinglens.blogspot.com
reports that some of the players on the club's radar include Christopher Lolo
of Katsina United and Akwa Starlets striker Edem Akanatang.
Reacting to
rumors that some players have already joined the club, the chairman of the club,
Paul Bassey explained that the club has not yet signed any player but
confirmed that many players have indicated interest in joining the club in
mid-season.
Bassey said
only quality players whose services are needed would be signed during the mid
season transfer window to fortify the team ahead of the second stanza of the
league.
However, the
club has also confirmed the release of four players into the transfer market
for reasons ranging from acts of indiscipline to lack of productivity.
Top on the
list is long standing goalkeeper Olufemi Kayode who of late failed to hold on
to a first team place in the team.
Also shown
the exit door includes club’s defenders, Ibukun Harrison, Semiu Liadi and
Shittu Lawal.
Two players
Nura Usman and Micheal Ibe have been placed on probation and told to sit up or
face the axe as the club positions itself for a challenge at the league diadem
at the end of the season.
Top
midfielder Adio Yusuf, who has been plagued with injury, has been sidelined for
the rest of the season. Adio has been put on medical leave of absence on
compassionate ground.
