FC Ifeanyi Ubah 2 vs 1 3SC: Referees succumb to threat in Nnewi, says Amoo

By our reporter

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan technical adviser, Fatai Amoo believes that the match officials made questionable calls during his side’s 2-1 loss to FC Ifeanyi Ubah in the match day 19 of the Nigeria Professional Football League on Wednesday in Nnewi.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah striker Godwin Obaje scored two second half penalties to cancel Sunday Faleye’s first half goal for the Oluyole Warriors.

Amoo said he was not surprised with the penalties given to FC Ifeanyi Ubah because the referees had already received a threat to their lives at the interval.

“We have lost the game and there is nothing we can do about it, but we must strive to develop the game. Everything surrounding this game was an eyesore’’, Amoo said.

He added: “I know we may not survive the game with threats on the referees at half time; so the two penalties were not surprising. I can now know why the referees took another 10 minutes to come out after recess. The first penalty was really not clear to me but I can confirmed the second one was deserved.’’
