The management
of Rangers International FC of Enugu have parted ways with their technical
adviser Imama Amapakabo.
Imama was
fired following Sunday’s 2-2 home draw with Zesco United in a 2017 CAF
Confederation Cup play offs, first leg match at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium,
Enugu.
Imama, who
led Flying Antelopes to their first league title after 32 years last season,
confirmed his sack on Monday evening.
Sportinglens.blogspot.com reports that the Super
Eagles assistant coach said his termination letter was sent to him through an e-mail.
"It's
official, received a termination of my contract with Rangers International
Football Club by email by 5:35pm. Thank you lord for every," Amapakabo
wrote on his Twitter account on Monday.
Amapakabo
signed a new two-year contract with the Nigerian champions at the beginning of
the season.
But the team’s
unimpressive results this season have left home fans worried of his capability
to lead the team again.
Rangers are
also rooted at the bottom of the Nigeria Premier League table in 20th place
with 13 points from 14 matches played.
The Nigerian
champions are also on the verge of another CAF Confederation Cup pre-group
stage exit after Zamalek eliminated them from the same round in the 2017 CAF
Champions League in March that saw them relegated to the Confederation Cup.
