Plateau Utd set to sign eight players

By Taofeek Babalola

The Technical Adviser of Plateau United Football Club of Jos Kennedy Boboye says he intends to beef up its squad with eight new players in order to fortify the team in the second stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Boboye, who spoke through the media Officer of the club, Albert Dakup, explained that the new players will replace the unproductive ones that would be released by the club during the mid-season.
He noted that some of the players that would be released failed to click into the plans of the technical crew while other are leaving on disciplinary grounds.

The former Abia Warriors coach, who joined the club this season, disclosed that out of the eight players that would be recruited, three are strikers while the rest are midfielders.

The former Sunshine Stars of Akure gaffer stressed that the new addition will add more bite to the team as they eye the league title at the end of the season.

The Peace Boys have taken the league by storm this season as they occupied the top spot on the league table for most part of the first round before a home draw against Lobi Stars saw them losing their status to Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) of Lagos, who now sit on the top of the league table, with only a point separating them with the Lalong Boys.

Plateau United, who have a match at hand against reigning champions, Rangers International of Enugu have been promised an instant double match bonus by the club’s General Manager if they can overcome the CAF Confederations Cup campaigners in the rescheduled match which is yet to get a date by the League Management Company (LMC).
